Information about burials

We understand how important it is that a burial is carried out carefully and respectfully. We take great care with each burial to ensure each plot is prepared and maintained to the highest standard.

We can provide family burial plots for up to three coffins and eight containers of cremated remains.

The information below sets out what we do before and after the burial.

Before the burial:

• Before the coffin arrives we will ensure that the grave is correctly dug to the depth and size given in the Burial Application Form.
• If needed we will support the grave by shoring and surrounding by timber, please check our fees and charges.

After the burial:

• We will backfill the grave once mourners have left the site, unless otherwise requested.
• Mourners wishing to backfill the grave themselves please contact us at least 24 hours beforehand.
• The site will be left neat and tidy with the wreaths and flowers carefully placed.
• The grave space will sink as compaction occurs, particularly after heavy rainfall. This will be made good by the cemetery staff as soon as ground conditions are suitable.
• Graves will be levelled 12 months after the burial dependent on the condition of the grave/plot.
